Here we are yet another season that the Red Sox are struggling to look like a baseball team with any hope of dignity. The team is a shell of their former self and as a result are not looking to be the dominate force that they once were. There are several players on the team that has given the impression that the team has just given up on the whole. This is the feeling that many fans now have of them.
The bullpen is not as strong as it once was; they have had a long dry spell when it comes to getting players that are able to get batters out at the plate. There are several players that are in the bullpen that are not living up to the expectations that the team once had. They are not making the impression that they made in the first part of this century. They actually did the impossible and broke the curse. It appears that now the bull pen is stricken with a new curse in the way of not being able to get batters out.
A decent closer that can hold batters at the plate and prevent massive plays from being made is also a crucial thing that needs to be addressed. This is a problem that has hurt the team for the past several years. The more that they try, the less they are able to find decent closers. This will be a problem that will continue to plague the team the longer that they try to get past this issue. This will be a very important aspect that will need to be considered when you are looking to get the team back on track.
There has also been a severe lack of batting power when it comes to the batting order for the Sox. With the departure of Johnny Damon this left a large gap in the power of Boston's lineup. This hole has been something that has given the team a lot of trouble over the past several seasons. David Ortiz was supposed to be the one key that held the team together, this as a result was supposed to be the one area that the team had faith in knowing that the team was well on track to being a powerhouse in the baseball community.
There is still hope for the team to get their act together, and as a result get in position that they are able to head to the playoffs with a new sense of purpose. If the problems are not fixed soon, then the team will be looking at a very long season and will have to recoup in the offseason. This may be the best thing for the team to do; this will help to ensure that the team is looking better than ever in 2011. There is a small section of the Boston faithful that will be looking to see their team in post season play, these fans are dying hard and are not willing to give up on the dream.
