This was supposed to be the season that the Diamondbacks made history and retook the National League by storm. This has not been the case and instead the team is looking to be ready the chopping block. Instead of making this be the year of the Diamondback, this is instead the year that the team is made into a joke. Everything that can go wrong for the team has and as a result the team is the laughing stock of MLB. There is little hope that the team can look for in the second part of the season.
There is absolutely no sense of pitching when it comes to Arizona. They are lucky that they have anything that resembles a pitching rotation. At this point they may want to give the groundskeeper a shot as the starting pitcher. This will be as good of a shot and any other player that they have signed as a pitcher. There are several different options that they may want to make sure that they give a shot when it comes to signing a pitcher that will get the job done.
The pitching department is one area that has seen a complete and total failure in regards to the team's ability to strike batters out. Even with the off season and the draft the team cannot buy a decent pitcher that is worth anything at all. There are so many different ways that Arizona could have fixed this problem had they had the proper tools in order to get the team back on track. Without a decent pitcher, Arizona is not able to make an impressive stand in getting to the post season. If the team has any hope in getting to the post season, they will need to make use of a trade and acquire a player that is able to turn the pitching department of the team around.
The outfield is another area that you will need to apply some concern when you are cheering for the team. The past few months have looked like a bunch or misfits trying to play baseball. There have been blown opportunities that the team has missed in trying to get the team on track to winning games. There are a number of missed opportunities that the team should have seen when they were playing the game.
If you are a diehard fan of the Diamondbacks, then you are to be congratulated on the dedication that you have for this team; it takes a lot to admit that they are a fan of the team from Arizona. This amount of dedication may one day be rewarded but in the meantime there will be a lot of teams that will make the Diamondbacks, the laughing stock of MLB and as a result will be the end of an era for a team that at one point had so much potential in front of them as a result. This will be a long season for the fans of the Diamondbacks to suffer through for 2010.
If you are one of the faithful for the team, then I feel for you and the best thing to do is hope that next season is better than this one. It is a lost cause for Arizona this season and next is not looking much better.

Indianapolis Colts and 2010
This is a season that the colts can make the most out of the opportunities that are in front of them in the upcoming season. This as a result will lead the team to have a lot more success in the 2010 season than in the previous two. This may seem like an impossible thing seeing that they made their way to the Super Bowl last season and came so close to winning.
Peyton Manning has done a remarkable job as the Quarterback for the team. There are few players that could have done the type of job that Manning has done with such perfection as he has. There is little work that needs to be done in the way of passing; the real work will come from the team as a whole looking to get on the road in the rushing game. This is where all of the major problems seem to be developing.
The running game is the one area that the Colts need to address in camps in the coming weeks, while many will say that there is time to correct this issue, there is also six weeks before the first preseason game. This will be the time that all the work for the past several months will be determined as a success or as a huge failure. If the running game is repaired, then the team will be looking at a great season that will see them heading to the Super Bowl once again this time with a win instead of a close second.
Regardless of the offensive situation, there needs to be a serious look at the defense. The team has had a hole in their defense that has leaked for some time. This leaking hole has led to the team being embarrassed in this year's Super Bowl as they were unable to stop the New Orleans Saints. If there is not some work done about this, then the Colts will have a long season of watching the Saints run past them again this season. While many fans were hoping for a rematch of the Super Bowl, it looks like that won't happen as the schedule does not have the two meeting.
2010 will and can be a great year for the Colts as long as they remain calm and do not make any mistakes that will alter the teams current direction. They are looking strong to appear in the Super Bowl and as a result are poised to make a decent attempt at getting the team past the slight issues.

Longhorn Men's Sports
Longhorns On The Field
A powerhouse of a football program for decades. Amongst college footballs best. A member of one conference(Big 12) since 1996. A total of four national football titles in the history of the program. An unbelievable number(32) of conference championships. Only two(Ricky Williams & Earl Campbell) previous Heisman winners in school history.
For the past 72 NFL drafts, Texas has sent at least one player to the NFL. For the past 73 years, Texas is ranked as the #7 college football team. A team that has just under 850 wins & a winning percentage over 70%. There are only two other schools(Notre Dame & Michigan) that can say they have a better winning percentage than the Longhorns.
Trailing only one other football program(USC) for most post-season bowl game appearances. A total of 1196 games played which ranks them #8 in this statistical category. The Longhorns have played in a BCS game 4 out of 12 years & being victorious in three of those appearances. One of those was a high-stakes national championship game back in 2005 against USC. The other two BCS wins were against fellow powerhouses OSU & another one against USC.
Men's Basketball
A basketball program that's been playing just as long as the prestigious football program. The basketball team has just as much to be proud of too. A team that has been a regular visitor to the NCAA tournament for several years straight. For the past 11 seasons, a team with 20 or more victories.
In terms of basketball, Texas ranks 15th all-time in wins for D1-A schools. They have won a total of 27 conference championships. They still haven't claimed a national championship besides their success. Texas basketball is currently lead by Rick Barnes. He has been at the forefront for 12 seasons running now. Barnes came over from Clemson after spending 5 years there.
He has compiled a 294-115 coaching record in 12 seasons. Texas has a well known player that currently plays in the NBA & is becoming a star. Kevin Durant is this guy & he played for Texas in 2007 but left for the NBA after only one season. He currently plays for the Oklahoma City Thunder.
America's(Or Should I Say Texas) Favorite Pastime
A haven for top college baseball play. A team that has won more games percentage-wise than than other other program. Only 1 other baseball team that has an advantage over them in victories too. A team that has been a regular in the tournament for college baseball's best(CWS). Not only just appearing, but, having the most victories as well.
There's only one other school(USC) that has more national titles. USC has twelve in their trophy case while Texas only has six. A school that has ¾ of a century(75) worth of conference championships The school has passed some very fine players through & then onto the highest level of baseball. One of those is "Rocket" Roger Clemens who had a magnificent MLB career.

Tampa Bay Rays
The 2010 Major League Baseball All-Star Game will be played Tuesday, July 13, at Angel Stadium in Anaheim and the all-star balloting is underway with two stars from the Tampa bay rays are in the lineup for the classic game of summer but other plays on the rays bench need some major help if they are going to make it to the all-star locker room. If you want your favorites to come out on top you need to cast your votes soon as the balloting is coming down to the home stretch.
For they rays the voting is going well and for one ray the positive swing of the voting is a surprise. Longoria, who is only in his 3rd season, is solidly in position to take home one of the commemorative All Star Jockstraps since he is currently in second place for the third base position with 2,534,967 votes putting him 963,136 votes ahead of the Yankees' Alex Rodriguez. This is in addition to the fact that he is leading the Rays in RBI's as well as being a breakout hitter for the season so far. Carlos Pena who at first looked like an odds on favorite ended up as of Monday ranked fifth in the first-base voting, carrying a total of 620,001. It is surprising to see him this far behind the position leader Justin Morneau of the Minnesota Twins who so far has 1,752,276 votes top his credit.
Last year MVP of the all star game Crawford, also looks like he will be hanging another commemorative All-star Jockstrap in his locker this year. He currently is in second place among the outfielders of the American League with over 1,445,615 votes. The leaders American leagues tradition of starting the top three players in the votes means that Crawford will be suiting up beside the Seattle Mariners' Ichiro Suzuki who is in first with 1,567,788 votes, and the Rangers' Josh Hamilton, who was in third place with 1,431,013 votes.
Fans are able to start voting with their sprint smart phones on certain plans beginning on Monday and all fans can cast up to 25 votes for their favorite teams via the MLB.com website or any of the 30 club sites for the individual teams. Online voting closes t the same time as text voting on July 4th during the All-Star Selection Show, which will be broadcast on the TBS superstation. During the show the fans all over the world will be given a chance to cast "the final vote" to help set the teams and the starting lineup. All voting is being sponsored by Sprint, who is also sponsoring the Game. The all-star selection showed being broadcast via satellite worldwide courtesy of TBS and co-sponsored by Sprint and Pizza Hut/Taco Bell.
For an additional level of interactivity this year fans will also be allowed to vote for the Ted Williams Most Valuable Player Award presented by Chevrolet. This is a great opportunity for the fans to be involved with the MVP selections and get to have a say as to who they feel was the best player in the game. The All-Star Game will be televised by FOX nationwide and additional coverage will be available on the web at MLB.com ESPN Radio will be providing official Play-by-Play coverage across all of north America on AM, FM and XM bands as well as HD radio.

Tennessee
Looking ahead for the 2010 Tennessee Volunteers
Despite all that has happened in the past few months the Volunteers of Tennessee are looking pretty darn good in regards to getting themselves on track in the overall picture of the college football season. this is due to the team burying the past of Lane Kiffen and getting refocused on the task at hand of getting the team on track to reclaim their throne in the SEC. despite all that the team has been through there has been a lot of good things that have happened in regards to getting the team on track and recommitted to the task at hand. The loss of Eric Berry was one that was difficult for the team to deal with, in the other side of things there was a successful signing day for the team., this signing day allowed them to fill the holes that had been left with the departure of many of the players that made the Volunteers a powerhouse in the early part of 2000. Then the team fell into a hole, and as a result found themselves in a position that they were in need of a savior to bring them back up. This was supposed to be Lane Kiffen.
The SEC is considered to be one of the toughest conferences that are in college football. These teams are all hungry and are looking to make the massive impact that teams like Alabama and LSU have in the past few seasons. This has left the rest of college football looking for answers to how to make the best of their efforts in the upcoming season. This will be a long road for the team to take on and as a result this will lead the team to have one of the toughest seasons that the team has had in a long time.
The loss of Eric Berry is one that the team will need to struggle with as the team adjusts in the future. There has been a lot of players in the past few weeks that are looking to step up to the plate in order to be all that they can in the overall sense of getting the team back on track to winning games and overcoming the football world. These players want to be the new face of the team and as a result want to be all that they can be. There will need to be a quarterback that can lead the team on the field and not get scared every time the ball is handed off to him.
This can be a wonderful season for the Tennessee Volunteers, this will be a result of the many obvious areas that need massive improvements in the upcoming season, the more that the team suffers, then the better that they will be focused as they will be reminded of what Lane Kiffen did to them and will do what it takes to secure a meeting with the Trojans in the Bowl season. This will be one of the more anticipated games of the season, if it actually should happen in the upcoming season. This will be a team that the Vols will have no love for in 2010.

The Mets
There were few players or fans for that matter that would have seen this coming. The New York Mets in the Driver seat when it comes to their own destiny. Was this not a team that just a few years ago were on the brink of blowing up and self-destructing?
There is no real explanation that is able to be given as to why this team has seen the type of playing potential that they have, some people attribute this to the fact that the team is more focused as there is new management that is in place that will make the team more of a unit and less a group of players that happen to all play baseball.
The new pitching coach has given the team an increased sense of purpose in the fact that they are now able to get better accuracy with their pitching as well as not over doing it in their workouts. This has helped the bullpen overcome a lot of the issues that they had been experiencing when they were on the field.
This is a direct result of the new sense of displine that the team has in the past few months. There is a new pitching coach, and he expects all players to adhere to the rules. This has led to the bullpen being a strong part of the team and being able to carry the team on its shoulders alone.
Depending on who you talk to, will depend on what the answer will be as to the impact that the Mets will have in the second half of the season. There are several experts that see this as being a short lived burst that the team is experiencing for the moment.
The others say that this is the beginning of something a lot bigger in the way that the team is poised to win more games and as a result increase their standing in professional baseball. Regardless of what your opinion of the team is, there is little arguing the fact that at least the first part of the season has been one that will be rembered as the best in years.
If this will continue or not is yet to be seen, what is known is that there is plenty of baseball left to play and the Mets are the master of their own destiny? The more that they try this season, the better the results will be.
The end of the first half of the season is quickly approaching; there will be a lot of interest as to what will the second half of the season hold in store for the Mets and their playoff hopes. The one thing that is certain is that now is as good a time as any to be a Mets fan, and there is a sense of urgency in the team's efforts. This can be a team that later in the season leaves a lot of the fans and other teams guessing as to what will happen next.

N.C State Hunting for a Winning Season
There are few people that truly know what the future of the Wolf Pack really hold in store, these fans all thing different things depending on who all you ask. There are those that say that the team is looking to make an impact in the way of the BCS even though many times this team is overlooked when it comes to dealing with these players and the BCS. Everyone knows that all the popular schools are looked at for the BCS and teams like N.C State are given the scraps from the rest of the bowl games. This looks to be a different thing for the upcoming season though.
There are several teams that are all looking for this to be a wonderful season that will be full of prospective players that recently signed on to play for the team as a result of their commitment that they have to the team. This past signing day was one of the better that the team has had in some time, this as a result led the team to have a lot of success for the entirety of the off season. It was a wish list that went all too well for the team as a result of having a successful season that they were able to be proud of.
They even were able to sign a quarterback that can actually pass the ball, while this may come as a shock to the fans; the team had their eye on this player and made all the right promises to get him to sign with the team. While there will be a little bit of a learning curve, this will in turn lead to the team having a more successful season than in the past few years. This will be the cornerstone of teams overall offense and as a result will be what leads them to hit the goldmine.
There is little doubt that the team is in a position that they will be able to run the ball when it is needed. There is a strong supporting cast that is in place that can run the ball like nothing else. This as a result will lead the team to making several plays that will be on highlight reels everywhere. This is just one aspect as to all the excitement that will surround the team in the coming season, the more that they strive for this, then the better that the team will be as a result.
This can be a great year for the team, or it will be a year that they would soon forget in regards to getting the ball down the field. There are several players are destined to be better than the previous players in years past. These teams are all looking for the same goal, to be able to hoist the trophy well above their head and call them National Champions.

The "U" Athletics
Previous Heisman winners in Vinny Testavarde & Gino Torretta. A team holding the record for most consecutive victories (58) at home. A team that also holds several record in regards to the NFL Draft. One is having a first round draft pick every year from 1995-2008. That's 14 straight years.
A team that has some legendary & well known head coaches. Some even former NFL coaches as well. One coach (Jimmy Johnson) was also a two-time Super Bowl winner in the NFL. He coached the Miami team for 5 years. For 6 years, The program was lead by another former NFL head coach (Dennis Erickson) of both the Seattle Seahawks & San Francisco 49ers. Another 6 year coaching tenure followed Erickson. He (Butch Davis) was a former Cleveland Browns head coach as well. Just like the previous few head coaches, another 6 year term occurred when a less popular coach(Larry Coker) took over the program.
Miami has a bowl record of 18-15. Their in-state rivals are the Seminoles & Gators. Miami has received quite a few solid players in their school history. There is a previous bad situation hanging over the football program. This was all due to a fight between Miami & Florida International coming back in 2006. Several Miami players were not allowed to play for one game due to this incident. The most coveted award (Heisman) was awarded to two previous QB's but a few other have awards as well. Not to be left out, some coaches have awards in their honor as well.
The 1st of 4 national championships for Miami in baseball came in 1982. 3 years later they captured another title. It wasn't long until another run. Winning championships in 1999 & 2001.Jim Morris has been head coach for the past 16 years. The only other Miami baseball coach to have a longer tenure was Ron Fraser from 1963-1992. Both of these coaches have two national titles each. Fraser in 1982 & 1985 while Morris in 1999 & 2001.
Winning two national championships apiece. One taking the title three years apart & the other two years apart. There are two former Miami greats (Ryan Braun & Par Burrell) currently playing MLB. Also, a current MLB player(A-Rod) that has the current Miami baseball stadium named in his honor. All this due to a generous donation ($3.9 million) 7 years ago. This is news that falls under the radar for the most part.

Taking A Look At The Past
Duke basketball is one of the best programs in the history of college basketball. They currently set at #4 in all-time wins. Duke has won four national championships & also appeared in a total of fifteen Final Fours. To prove their greatness, Duke has nine previous players named National Player of the Year.
Duke has also have quite a few players drafted in the NBA. A total of 71 to be exact. This places them at the top of college basketball for former college players on NBA rosters. Can you believe that any school in today's times would have the same head coach for 3 decades?
UCLA & Duke are #1 & #2 respectively for being ranked as the top team in terms of total weeks at #1. A total of 69 previous All-Americans(55 for performance & 14 for academic). A team that has been a regular visitor to the NCAA Tournament under current coach Krzyewski. They have only missed the NCAA Tournament 4 of the 30 years. They have made a Sweet Sixteen appearance in 19 of those 26 as well.
Can you believe a total of 55 college All-Americans in the history? A school known for bringing in smart kids also has 14 prior Academic All-Americans which shouldn't surprise. Out of the 30 years under Mike Krzyewski, they have been to the NCAA tournament 26 of those seasons. Out of those 26 seasons, a total of 19 visits to the Sweet Sixteen as well.
They have been chosen as the #1 seed in the tournament 11 times. 11 seasons of 30+ wins. Krzyewski has won an amazing 795 games with only 220 losses in these 30 years of being coach at Duke. They have won all four championships under his control & the most recent coming in 2010.
Previous Hoop Superstars
Duke has passed through some very talented basketball players. A total of 9 previous players that have received National Player of the Year honors. From a 1952 point guard to a 3-pt specialist in 2005. Dick Groat claimed the first Player of the Year award for Duke nearly 60 years ago. Eleven years later, Art Heyman claimed the honors.
It took nearly ¼ of a century before another player won the award. It was only a short time later before the next honor. Can you believe another 3 years & another Duke Player of the Year winner. The next one though had to wait 7 more years.
Danny Ferry & Christian Laettner are the most well recognized on the lists. Ferry holds the Duke record for most points(58) scored in a game. Ferry ranks in the top 5 in a couple statistical categories in Duke history. One is points scored & the other is in rebounds.
Laettner has a special place in history. He knocked down a buzzer-beating jumper against the Kentucky Wildcats in the 1992 NCAA Tournament. Laettner is an NCAA tournament record holder in numerous categories. He has a total of 407 points. He has 142 FT's made. He has 167 FT's attempted. He has played in a total of 23 tournament games. He is also the all-time Duke leader in three-point percentage. He appeared in the Final Four during all of his seasons at Duke & was a starter in all four of those too.
Laettner's performance in the NCAA tournament has him holding several records. The records are in total points. Total free throws made. Total free throws taken. Total games played. Add to that, the all-time Duke leader from the arc in 3-point shooting percentage(48.5%). He can also say that he went to every NCAA tournament during his time spent at Duke & was the starter for all those tournament appearances.

The Boston Red Sox, Will need Assist
Here we are yet another season that the Red Sox are struggling to look like a baseball team with any hope of dignity. The team is a shell of their former self and as a result are not looking to be the dominate force that they once were. There are several players on the team that has given the impression that the team has just given up on the whole. This is the feeling that many fans now have of them.
The bullpen is not as strong as it once was; they have had a long dry spell when it comes to getting players that are able to get batters out at the plate. There are several players that are in the bullpen that are not living up to the expectations that the team once had. They are not making the impression that they made in the first part of this century. They actually did the impossible and broke the curse. It appears that now the bull pen is stricken with a new curse in the way of not being able to get batters out.
A decent closer that can hold batters at the plate and prevent massive plays from being made is also a crucial thing that needs to be addressed. This is a problem that has hurt the team for the past several years. The more that they try, the less they are able to find decent closers. This will be a problem that will continue to plague the team the longer that they try to get past this issue. This will be a very important aspect that will need to be considered when you are looking to get the team back on track.
There has also been a severe lack of batting power when it comes to the batting order for the Sox. With the departure of Johnny Damon this left a large gap in the power of Boston's lineup. This hole has been something that has given the team a lot of trouble over the past several seasons. David Ortiz was supposed to be the one key that held the team together, this as a result was supposed to be the one area that the team had faith in knowing that the team was well on track to being a powerhouse in the baseball community.
There is still hope for the team to get their act together, and as a result get in position that they are able to head to the playoffs with a new sense of purpose. If the problems are not fixed soon, then the team will be looking at a very long season and will have to recoup in the offseason. This may be the best thing for the team to do; this will help to ensure that the team is looking better than ever in 2011. There is a small section of the Boston faithful that will be looking to see their team in post season play, these fans are dying hard and are not willing to give up on the dream.

Boise State Football
Rise To Success
Where's Boise State? What's a Bronco? Who's this football team? Well, we all know now. A team that has won 9 conference championships over the past 11 years. A team from the WAC(Western Athletic Conference). A team from a conference that hadn't exactly been a juggernaut in previous years.
During the past 11 seasons Boise State has a total record with 9 conference titles. Boise State currently plays in the Western Athletic Conference(WAC).This conference isn't exactly a powerhouse but Boise has made it more noticed in recent years. Boise moved over from the Big West Conference in 2002.
The football program has experienced 3 undefeated regular seasons out of the past 5 years. A lot of the critics say this is due to lack of competition. Boise also has a considerable home field advantage as well. They won 31 straight home games dating from 2001-2005. The home streak was ended by Boston College back on December 28, 2005.
Perfect Season #1
The 2006 season was one to remember not only for Bronco fans but football fans in general. An undefeated regular season & a trip to the Fiesta Bowl in Arizona. This was very unusual to have a non-BCS conference get accepted for a bid to a BCS game. They were ranked #8 nationally going into this game & also with a record unblemished. Finally, a team from a smaller conference had made a BCS bowl game.
What a game this was indeed. You have a powerhouse football team in Oklahoma & you have a smaller & less known school in Boise State. There was no way Boise could pull off the upset, right? Well, everybody was wrong. Boise State defeated the Oklahoma Sooners in overtime by a score of 43-42.
The final margin of victory was accomplished by going for a two-point conversion that gave them the victory. Boise State was the only D1-A college football team to finish the 2006 season undefeated. This was due to a loss by Ohio State against Florida. This 2006 campaign propelled the Boise program into the spotlight & history.
Another Unblemished Campaign
Boise State had another great season in 2009. There was no way they could have a better season than the one in 2006, right? Well, I think their record & outcome speaks for itself. The team finished with another perfect record with a 14-0 mark. The season was capped off with a victory against TCU in the 2010 Fiesta Bowl. This was only the 2nd time that a college football team had finished a season with a 14-0 record. There was no way this could happen to a school like Boise State!
Odd Looking Home Field
What does traditional mean in this case ? It means something that we're grown accustomed to over time. Well, in this case can you say "blue"? Boise State football plays home games on what's called a Field Turf. The odd thing is the turf is not the color we're used to watching games played on. All other college football games are played on a green colored surface. However, Boise chose to color their field blue back in 1986. It hasn't changed colors since. It may look weird to us but the fans of the Broncos have been doing this for nearly a quarter of a century. I wonder if they feel they're watching the "Smurfs"?

2010 the Stop of 1 Period and the Starting of the Atlanta Braves New Period
Take a look around the National League what is the one thing that you notice? The one thing that may stand out, is the fact that the team that few thought would be around as a contender, is looking like a true champion from their former glory days. This team is the Atlanta Braves. The Braves have come a long way from the bunch of misfits that took to the field in the second part of last season. This may all be due in part to the retirement of Bobby Cox or not regardless of the reason the Braves are on Fire.
Look at the bullpen and you will be quick to notice that the team is looking more like a world class team than just a bunch of players that are lucky enough to be on the same team. The pitching rotation is one of the best since the days of Glavine, Avery and Smoltz. These three ran the Braves in the early part of the 90's and as a result made an impact on the team. There is a new trio of pitchers that are giving the batters they face a lot of grief when taking to the plate.
The first reason goes to the pitching rotation that is now in place it may have taken a little while to get perfected, but now the team is on fire and is looking to advance more and more every game. With the trade deadline on the horizon the Braves may want to consider adding a little more fire power to their bullpen in the later part of the season. This will help to make sure that they continue to have the strong pitching presence.
There is more to the success of the Braves than just throwing a bunch of balls. There is also the hitting power that the team has in reserve; the batting of the Braves has allowed the team to have remarkable success at the plate when they are up to bat. This power has led the team to rock the plate when it comes to runs batted in and homeruns. There are few other teams that have the stats built up like what the Braves have amassed for themselves.
There is no reason why as a Braves fan you need to continue to hide in the doghouse and be afraid to show your Braves pride. The team has gone a long way in order to improve on their season from the previous few. There will be a lot more interest that will be included with the Braves and as a result will lead to Bobby Cox to have a wonderful retirement gift with a World Championship.

The Year that Michigan attempts to roar
Sixty days and counting, this is the amount of time left before the wolverines of Michigan take to the field and prove that they are for real this season. While things have not went the best in the world for the team is seasons past, there is hope that a new signing class will be what the team needs in order to get the wheels back on track and get the team back to a point that they can contend for the BCS title. This will be a long struggle but one that will be worth it in the end. the team in the talks about a BCS bowl game. This will be an important consideration that will need to be addressed in the coming season.
The signing class is one that has shown that they are able to make a stand when it is needed. The team had a Christmas list of players that they were seeking out, and got a good portion of these for their team. This is the good news. The bad news is that there are a lot of players that have to go from a High School experience to a college environment. This as a result will take some time getting used to in the end. If they are able to adjust, then the rookies will be a breath of fresh air for the team.
There will be a lot of eyes that will be set on the teams passing game. With their talent gone due to graduation, there is a lot of interest that the team will have about how they will survive. The good news is that Nader Furrha has a laser arm that will be tough for the team to deny. This has been proven in spring workouts as the team has made an impressive showing in the few scrimmages that have been held.
There is no doubt that the leading thing that will have the team on the road to a National title will be the ground game that has been on target in the workouts thus far. The Wolverines will be able to take confidence that there will be few areas of concern in the running game of Michigan. This is the biggest area of good news that the team can have. There will need to be a lot stronger running game in place to make up for the fact that the team is losing a strong passing game.
2010 will be a season that Michigan will need to make sure they take full advantage of this season. there has been a lot of work that has been placed in the efforts of the team in regards to getting the most out of their new signees, this in addition to the fact that Rich Rodriguez is fighting for his coaching life. These facts will make 2010 a very interesting season that will be full of storylines to keep an eye out for. The fans are hoping that Michigan will be mentioned when it comes time to discuss the BCS title picture this season. All indications are that the jury is still out on these hopes.

St. Louis Rams, Warner, and the Show
The Saint Louis Rams have been playing football in the National Football League for 74 years, though not always in the same location. In fact, they've been a wandering team, beginning in Cleveland for ten years before moving to Los Angeles. From there, they picked up roots and plodded off to Anaheim before finally settling in Saint Louis for good - or at least for now. They have, at times, had an offensive unit that is just as movement-oriented. For instance, their offense was so potent between 1999 and the year 2001 that it earned the nickname "The Greatest Show on Turf". Had it lasted, it might have rivaled the dynasties of Green Bay, Chicago, and San Francisco. Though it ended all too soon, it was still an impressive and exciting time in football history.
The curtain rises
The Greatest Show on Turf got its start when the Rams' quarterback Trent Green went down with an injury in the preseason campaign of 1999. Rallying around backup quarterback Kurt Warner - a former Arena Football star, the Rams went on to score 526 points during the '99 campaign. That record-setting performance would only stand for a single year, as the Rams would break it with a 540 point season in 2000. That 1999 season resulted in a 13-3 overall record and a trip to Super Bowl XXXIV against the Tennessee Titans. Warner passed for more than 400 yards during the game, and the Rams won 23-16.
The Script
Of course, the success of the Greatest Show was not simply a matter of having good players - although the Rams had their share and then some. The system of offense that the team employed was designed to move the ball, and to move it fast. With constant five receiver sets, the Rams extended the opposing defenders all across the field, executed quick release passes to their open men in space, and did so with the precision accuracy for which Warner has been well recognized. The system enabled the receivers to catch the ball on the run, thus ensuring extra yards after the catch. Warner's skill at releasing the ball quickly and hitting his targets in motion as developed when he quarterbacked the Arena League Barnstormers team, and was put to good use in Saint Louis.
The cast
Of course, had the team just been Kurt Warner, the Show would have never seen its curtain rise. He also had the best running back in the League at the time, in Marshall Faulk, as well as receivers like Isaac Bruce, Ricky Proehl, Torry Holt, and Az Hakim. Protected by an incredible offensive line unit, Warner was able to conduct an offense that produced five hundred plus yards in each of the years from 1999 through 2001. Faulk, a star of the offense, was awarded the Offensive honors for the League all three years, and shared the first two spots in each year's MVP vote with Warner.
Two years after their Super Bowl win, the Rams went back to the title game, only to lose to the Patriots. Though most experts failed to realize it at the time, the Greatest Show on Turf was, for all intents and purposes, closing up shop. The term would continue to be used for several more years before commentators realized that the Show had been over for some time.
